What we can supply for the Crafter

Drawing on our Sprinter range:

Confirm your year first

The partnership ended in 2016, when VW launched its own in-house Crafter on an entirely new platform. The 2017-onwards Crafter is a completely different van and does not share glass with the Sprinter.

So before ordering: check the year on your V5C. If it's 2006–2016, you're in Sprinter territory and everything here applies. If it's 2017 or later, get in touch and we'll advise separately.

Because the changeover sits mid-year and there's variation in registration dates, we'd always recommend sending us your registration so we can confirm before you cut. It takes two minutes.

The double glazed option

Worth calling out because it's rare on van glass. Glass is by far the weakest point in a converted van's insulation — you can insulate every panel meticulously and still lose most of the benefit through single glazing.

Double glazed panes have a sealed air gap between two layers, which substantially cuts heat transfer and largely eliminates the overnight condensation that forms on cold single glass. If you're building a Crafter for year-round or full-time use, it's one of the highest-value upgrades in the whole project.

Glazing a Crafter conversion

The Crafter's size gives you front, centre and rear positions down each side. Few builds glaze all of them — wall space is needed for units, and every pane is heat lost — but the flexibility is there.

The common layout: opening front glass on the nearside for kitchen ventilation, fixed opposite, and rear glass over the bed. The centre position is most often left solid because that's where the kitchen or wardrobe goes.

Fitting

Bonded glazing with polyurethane adhesive: cut the aperture, dress and prime the raw edge, bond, cure. Crafter panels are large and the LWB panes are heavy — these are two-person lifts, and the double glazed units are heavier still.

Bonding kits, primer and trim are available alongside the glass, and Trade Windscreens in Carlisle fits van glazing professionally.

Delivery

Order before 3pm Monday to Thursday for next working day UK mainland delivery, in packaging built for vehicle glass, with immediate replacement of any breakage.
