Standard or Maxi?

This is the first thing to establish. The Caddy comes in standard and Maxi long-wheelbase forms, and the difference is significant on a van this small — the Maxi adds meaningful length behind the sliding door, which is what makes a full-length bed possible.

For glazing, the side panel differs between them. Check your V5C before ordering anything.

• Front side window — the panel ahead of the sliding door, both sides
• Rear quarter window — on Maxi vans with a longer rear panel
• Tailgate or barn door glass — depending on configuration

Fixed glass insulates better and can't leak; opening glass gives ventilation. On a van this size, ventilation matters disproportionately — a small sealed space with two people sleeping produces a lot of condensation overnight, and by morning you'll have water running down the panels if there's nowhere for it to go.

Most Caddy builds fit at least one opening pane, or pair fixed glass with a roof vent.

Why privacy tint on a micro camper

The whole appeal of a Caddy conversion is that it doesn't look like one. It parks on residential streets, in supermarket car parks and at trailheads without attracting a second glance — which is exactly what a lot of people want, particularly if they're sleeping in it somewhere they'd rather not advertise.

Privacy tint is what makes that work. Dark glass keeps the interior and the fact that there's a bed in the back completely out of sight.

Rear glass is worth it on a small van

On a van this size, rear door or tailgate glass does more than you'd expect. It floods light into the back, transforms rearward visibility, and stops the interior feeling like a box. If you're only fitting a couple of windows, rear glass often earns its place ahead of a second side window.
