Trafic, Vivaro and Primastar

The 2001–2013 Trafic was sold simultaneously as the Vauxhall Vivaro and the Nissan Primastar. Identical vans, interchangeable glass.

The Vivaro badge dominates the UK used market for this generation, so if you're researching conversions you'll find the deepest pool of information under that name. Everything applies to the Trafic directly.

Twin side-load doors

Several panes here are specific to vans with sliding doors on both sides — the offside panel arrangement differs and standard glass won't fit.

Check your van before ordering. It's an easy thing to overlook and an expensive one to discover after you've cut.

Buying and converting one now

These vans are 12 to 24 years old, which means condition varies enormously. Before you plan a glazing job, look hard at the bodywork — corrosion around the sills, wheel arches and lower side panels is the usual failure point on this generation.

Cutting a window aperture into a panel that's already corroding will accelerate the rot significantly. If the metal around your intended aperture is sound, prime the cut edge thoroughly when you fit; if it isn't, deal with the rust first. It's not the exciting part of a build but it determines whether the van is still on the road in five years.

Privacy or green?

Privacy for campers — dark, private, cooler in summer. Green for day vans, crew vans and minibus conversions where you want light and visibility rather than seclusion. We stock both across most positions because this van gets used for both.

Fitting

Bonded glazing with polyurethane adhesive: cut, dress and prime, bond, cure.

Given the age of these vans, offer the glass up dry before committing adhesive — previous repairs and accident damage can leave apertures slightly out of true, and it's much better to discover that beforehand.

Delivery

Order before 3pm Monday to Thursday for next working day UK mainland delivery, in packaging built for vehicle glass, with immediate replacement of any breakage.
