Compact, LWB or XLWB?

The Vito comes in three lengths — Compact, Long and Extra Long — and the rear side glass differs between all three. This is more granular than most vans and it catches people out.

Front glass is common across the range. Rear glass is not. Check the V5C or send us your registration before ordering rear panes; there's no making a Compact pane work in an XLWB aperture.

Barn doors or tailgate?

Like the Transit Custom, the Vito is sold with either twin barn doors or a single lifting tailgate, and they take different glass. Look at the back of your van before you order — barn door vans need a pair of panes, tailgate vans need one large single pane.

Converting a Vito

The Vito's low roof means sitting height rather than standing, so most conversions either accept that, fit a pop-top, or build around a sleeping-and-sitting layout rather than a full kitchen you can stand at. It suits a two-person weekender extremely well.

Glazing-wise, the common approach is opening glass on the nearside front for ventilation, fixed opposite, and rear side glass in the longer bodies where there's a proper rear quarter panel to fill. Tailgate or barn door glass makes a big difference to how open the interior feels.

Privacy tint for campers. Green for the crew and day van conversions the Vito is also popular for — it's a common taxi and minibus base, and green glass suits passenger-carrying use where you want light and visibility.

Fitting

Bonded glazing with polyurethane adhesive: cut, dress and prime the aperture edge, bond, cure. The Vito's panels are manageable in size — this is a less physically demanding fit than a Sprinter.

The tailgate pane is the exception; it's large and awkward, and worth having help with.

Bonding kits, primer and trim are available alongside the glass, and Trade Windscreens fits van glazing from Carlisle.

Delivery

Order before 3pm Monday to Thursday for next working day delivery to the UK mainland, in purpose-built glass packaging, with immediate replacement of breakages.
