This is a universal-fit front side pane for the pre-2014 Daily. Because the aperture is symmetrical on this generation, one part number covers both the nearside and offside, which keeps things simple.

Converting an older Daily

If you've bought a pre-2014 Daily to convert, you've almost certainly bought it because it was cheap and strong. That's a sound basis for a build, but there are a couple of things worth being realistic about.

Check the bodywork before you cut. These vans are now well over a decade old and many have led hard commercial lives. Corrosion around the lower panels and door frames is common. Cutting a window aperture into a panel that's already going will make the problem considerably worse, considerably faster.

Prime the cut edge properly. On a van of this age this isn't optional. Bare steel at a cut edge, exposed to British weather, will start to corrode quickly, and once rust gets under a bonded window it's a genuinely difficult problem to put right. Use a proper etch primer and let it flash off fully before you bond.

Glazing approach

With a single front pane available, most older Daily builds glaze both front side panels and rely on a roof vent for the rest of the ventilation and light. That's a perfectly workable approach on a van this size — the Daily's height means a roof vent or rooflight brings in a lot of light.

Privacy tint keeps the interior out of sight, which matters on a large older van that might attract attention parked up.

Fitting

Bonded glazing with polyurethane adhesive: mark, cut, dress and prime the edge, bond, cure.

Given the age of these vans, offer the glass up dry before committing adhesive. Older commercial vehicles frequently carry previous repairs, panel replacements and accident damage that can leave apertures very slightly out of true. Better to find that out before the adhesive is on.
